I drew this design in January of 1997. I know because it says so on the miniature text on the triceratops’ head. There are hidden messages all over the artwork (see a closeup below) including one paragraph that says the first person to send in a photo of themselves wearing this tee shirt will win a prize. Somebody actually did. I chose the triceratops as the play mascot because it was always my favorite dinosaur as a kid. The 1997 Play Story Book Catalog tells the tale of a triceratops named YALP.
